Must see Stemnitsa

Submitted by manolism on Fri, 11/20/2009 - 17:10.

If one ever has a free weekend and wants to get the heck away from Athens I highly recommend Stemnitsa in the Peloponnise. It is an extremely picturesque village that can take pride in its lovely atmosphere and beautiful forests and cliffs!

The drive from Athens is relatively pleasant but towards the end it becomes awesome because one truly finds himself amidst the prettiest woods in Greece.

Had the weather been on our side things would have been even better but with it being early October we weren't to bummed out by the never ending drizzle. It kinda gave the trip a gloomy feel!! The hotel (which will remain nameless) was wicked!!! A bit too posh for young people but a bit of poshness never harmed anyone... Especially if the weather is bad it is nice to spend the evening in at a posh hotel with comfy beds and a pretty fire-place.

Anyway enough said about the hotel. Stemnsitsa is a tiny little village that has few options for dinning or (god forbid..) shopping! But I will assume that no-one goes there for the shops or French cuisine... There are a few options for traditional Greek food that are nice. There are a couple of coffee shops but my personal favourites were the few tiny shops that sell home made (maybe not) jams, liqueurs, and honey!

That's all about Stenitsa dear readers!!! Hope you go and have lovely time all snuggled up with your better half! <3
