Loutraki - A step away

Submitted by krunar on Tue, 11/25/2008 - 19:41.

Well, i guess everyone that leaves near Athens knows loutraki.
For those of you that dont, here is few tips.

During the winter...not much if any at all.
The all time event is the Club Hotel Casino loutraki (http://www.clubhotelloutraki.gr/), the biggest casino in greece.
The beauty of Loutraki is revealed during the summer.
Loutraki has a huge beach (almost 8Km - mostly with pebble)and just above a beautiful Mountain (Geraneia). unfortunately there inst any Mountain acivities, organized at least, but if you love the nature im sure that you can match your swimming with a walk on the mountain.

Night life
For a small town (10.000 citizents during the winter) looutraki has a lot to offer in the night life. Plenty of bars and clubs and all of them in front of the see will make sure that you can party until late...or early..in the morning.

Finaly, it worth to make a small trip from loutraki to lake Vouliagmeni (yes i know there is also one in athens..but this one is btter in my opition). You will have to drive for approximatly 30min to reach the late but the landscape is fair enough to make your ride pleasent. Near the lake you can is HRAION, the old temple of HRA. Go there during the sunset...and then we can talk about the sunset in santorini and which one ie better :D

That is for now...
I hope i will find more time to post more information in another day

Travel Information:

Loutraki is 78Km away from Athens. You can travel there by car (aprox 1hour) by KTEL from Larissa Station (which is in athens..dont ask me why it is called like this..) or by train (there used to be a train directly to Loutraki but at this point you have to use Proastikos to travel to Corinthos and then by Bus.

Accomodation Information:

In Loutraki you will not have a problem finding a hotel. It is rumored that Loutraki can accommodate 180K people and this is a huge number for a 10.000 town.
of course during the summer...especial August, try to come prepared and book in advance

It is located by the sea of the Argolic Gulf and it has several beaches in the city and nearby areas. • Aegina Nightlife

Aegina is a popular destination for athenians, looking to spend their weekend in a nearby island. Being only 35 minutes away from Peiraus, it attracts a large number of athenians every weekend. Aegina is mostly considered a family place. There are not that many bars and night clubs, and if you are a party animal you will be better off going to paros, mykonos and other such islands. There however are many taverns and bar/restaurants all over the island, that will accomodate anyone else.

  • History of Spetses

Sadly and unlike the rest of Greece, Spetses does not have much to offer in archaeological findings. The earliest evidence of man on Spetses comes in the shape of two Mesolithic flint spear-heads. These are thought to indicate a passing visit by hunters from the Fraghthi cave on the mainland who were searching for water. Spetses' first inhabitants appear to have been mostly just passing through, on their way from the Peloponnese to the Cyclades.

  • Restaurants in Athens

In Athens, guests can choose to eat in a different way for every single day of their stay since numerous gourmet spots will satisfy their appetite. One can indulge in the traditional Greek cuisine of taverns and Mediterranean style restaurants. Moreover, those who prefer international or exotic gastronomy can choose from a wide variety of international cuisine restaurants. The price ranges vary, however, quality and hospitality remain above average. Finally, another significant factor adding to the appeal of a Greek restaurant would be the area of its location.
