Travel to ... Stoupa

Stoupa is a small village located in the south peloponnese in one of the most beautiful places in greece, Mani. It is a 4 hour travel from Athens International airport and an hour trip from the city of Kalamata, the capital of the province of messinia. Stoupa is a very graphical and touristic village, surrounded by the green mountains of mani (which is a nice change after all the burned down forests you will see when traveling the rest of peloponnese).

Stoupa is well known for the famous "kalogria" beach and the nearby camping, which attracts many visitors every summer. Both the kalogria beach and the camping are very well organized. Apart from the kalogria beach, there is another large sandy beach in stoupa (the main beach / harbor of the village) and many more in nearby areas. You will find water sports facilities in the large beaches, you can try fishing on the quiet waters of stoupa and the night life is definitely worth mentioning, with many small clubs and after hour cafes.

The main road of stoupa ( Barbetsea Avenue :) ) is filled with restaurants and coffee shops, and for those that don't find the idea of camping attractive, there are many apartments to rent as well as a number of small hotels. Stoupa is a small place, you don't need transportation unless you wish to explore the nearby villages and beaches such as kardamilli and Aghios Nikolaos.

Kardamilli is a traditional village a few minutes from stupa, where the visitor can stay in old castle-like apartments, very quiet and beautiful. Aghios nikolaos is a very graphical little harbor, definitely worth a visit for some ouzo or fresh fish. It is less than 5 minutes from stoupa by car, on a beautiful road through the green mountains of mani.
